This specification covers that priming, marking, greasing, and preservation done by the manufacturers of the projectile bodies and related inert components for ammunition calibers 75mm through 16 inch. This specification is supplementary to the specification governing manufacture of projectiles under contract as listed in the applicable list of drawings and specifications (see 6.2).

The projectiles shall have one of the following grades of protective coatings as specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2):

Grade A - Adherent crystalline phosphate deposit and primer

Grade B - Rust preventive compound
