The scope of the Guide covers units of all sizes and of the following types:

- Propeller

- Bulb
- Pump-turbine
- Storage pump
Wherever the word "turbine" appears in the text of this document, it shall be interpreted to mean either turbine or storage pump or pump-turbine as the case requires.
The Guide identifies other powerhouse equipment that could affect or be affected by a turbine, storage pump, or pump-turbine rehabilitation.
